No sewing this weekend, as DF and I have a houseguest--his nephew is here from Tulane. I've been cooking up a storm and there's way too much food around here, but that's late November for you! We had a lovely meal last night that included all the classics--turkey, roasted vegetables, cornbread and sausage dressing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. I did make cranberry salad but it was forgotten in the rush of getting everything on the table. Oops!
I'm at the office today since officially, we're open. But honestly, it's dead around here and I've just been catching up on a few things.
I hope everyone had a wonderful day of feasting, friends, and family!

New Project: OOP Butterick 3201
This pattern is circa 2001 but I just love the shape, a narrow A-line. I've made it a couple of times before, so I've got the fitting issues worked out.
This time, I'm making it from a lightweight wool challis that I bought from FabricMart last year, so the fabric is practically new!
I plan on lining the skirt for comfort and convenience, and there might be some additional changes as well. The pattern features a faced contour waist with a drawstring. That's a little more casual look than I want for this fabric, so I'll either apply the facing sans drawstring or bind the edge with a bias strip of the fabric.
I also need to search out my invisible zipper feet. For the first time in a while, I'm actually making something that calls for a zipper and the invisible type is the simplest one for me. It just so happens that the newest Palmer/Pletsch "Fit for Real People" has instructions for an invisible zip, so I'll add that to the information I refer to when installing.

More PJ Pants for Winter 09
I'm working on another 3 pairs of pj pants from my TNT pattern, McCalls 2476. I've discovered that flannel has become too hot to sleep in these days, so I cut out 3 pairs from my cotton stash. This is basic production sewing for me--I stacked and cut all 3 pairs at the same time, then each step was done 3 times before proceeding to the next.
All I have left to do are the casings and hems on all 3 pair. These are the only stages that will be done separately. Although I was able to use the same serger thread for all, each really needs its own color where the stitching will show. However, production sewing allowed me to assemble 3 pairs in just a little more time than a single pair.
Photos when I finish up, although you've seen other examples before.
In other news, I received Louise Cutting's Technique DVDs from Threads on Friday and viewed them over the weekend. Lots of good material on them and well worth getting!
